Sam: Hey everyone, welcome to Interior Design Tips! Today we are talking kitchen storage, and I don't mean just buying a cute little spice rack. I mean the stuff that actually changes how you cook every single day.

Dave: Yes! And honestly I didn't realize how bad my kitchen storage was until I redid it and then I was like, why did I live like that for six years?

Sam: Six years! What was the worst part?

Dave: Okay, the corner cabinet. The dreaded corner cabinet. I had pots and lids just... avalanching out every time I opened the door. It was genuinely stressful.

Sam: Oh, the corner cabinet is a crime against humanity. I put in a lazy Susan in mine and it was the best forty bucks I ever spent. Seriously, forty dollars at a hardware store.

Dave: I went a different direction. I did a pull-out organizer, one of those two-tier blind corner pull-outs. Cost me closer to a hundred and twenty but it uses every inch of that space now. Nothing gets lost back there.

Sam: That's the thing, right? It's not about more space, it's about using the space you already have. My kitchen is not big at all and I made it work just by being smarter about the insides of the cabinets.

Dave: Preach. I also added pull-out drawers inside my lower cabinets, the ones that used to just have a shelf. I hired a guy but honestly you can get the hardware and DIY it for maybe sixty to eighty dollars a cabinet if you're comfortable with a drill.

Sam: I did mine myself! It took a Saturday afternoon and a little swearing but totally doable. And now I can actually see everything in there instead of digging around like I'm excavating something.

Dave: The deep cabinet dig. I know it well. What about vertical storage? Because that was huge for me.

Sam: Oh, huge. I added a vertical divider in one of my upper cabinets for cutting boards and sheet pans and they just slide right in. No more stacking, no more that whole thing where you pull one out and three others fall.

Dave: Yes! Mine's next to the stove so everything is right there when I need it. I used a tension rod at first, actually, just to test the idea, and it worked so well I eventually built it out properly.

Sam: I love the tension rod hack. Cheap, reversible, no commitment. Perfect for renters too.

Dave: Totally. Okay, what about inside the pantry or the food cabinet? Because mine was a disaster zone.

Sam: I did pull-out bins, three of them, stacked. Snacks in one, canned goods in another, baking stuff in the third. Everything is visible and reachable. I think I spent maybe ninety dollars total.

Dave: I went with clear bins on the shelves plus I actually labeled them, which I thought was going to feel weird and overly organized but I love it. My wife thinks I've lost my mind but she also always knows where the pasta is now so.

Sam: Function wins every argument.

Dave: Every single one. I'll also say, one thing I wish I'd done sooner is add a drawer organizer for utensils. I had this big junk drawer forever and now it has inserts and I can actually find a peeler without losing my mind.

Sam: Same! Mine cost like fifteen dollars and it took ten minutes. Ten minutes and no more mystery drawer. That's a win.

Dave: Huge win. Honestly the whole theme here is just, a little investment in the right organizers and you cook better because you're not fighting your kitchen the whole time.

Sam: Exactly. Your kitchen should work with you, not against you.

Dave: Well said. Alright, thanks so much for hanging out with us today!

Sam: Yeah, catch you next time on Interior Design Tips!
